Experiences provide knowledge, good and bad.
Stuff provides function, beauty and potential joy.
They both require responsibility, organization and space.
When I carry stuff I am no longer nimble. This goes for physical and mental things: ideas, equipment, what if and oh shit survival boxes.
When we hang onto less stuff it becomes easier to change directions.
I work to adapt to what is and is not around.
We think we need some stuff and certain experiences. But what do we really need?
Stuff versus experiences is not the comparison. Stuff and experiences should be combined together. But not like a pile of bricks. And if we look at the two together like mortar and bricks to build a foundation or wall, we create an immovable object of ideas and outlook unable to adapt and evolve.
I think the combination of experience and stuff to me is like woven carbon fiber. The right combination can be shaped, it has strength and innate beauty. But, if it is mistreated or gets smashed it is not repairable. We will need to start again.
