I love the look of whole strawberries in our raw and cooked strawberry pie. But when eating the pie, it is difficult to cut through the whole fruit and make manageable bites that don’t send the pie flying across the plate. As I was cutting the fruit for the cooked portion of the pie, it dawned on me to cut the uncooked fruit and keep it together so that it looked whole. I could fill the pie with the pre-cut fruit and pour the filling over the fruit. When we sliced the pie and ate our slices, we were able to enjoy the vision of whole berries, while also being able to devour the pie in manageable bites.
